Stittsville is growing quickly. My focus is on getting the infrastructure, services and investment our community needs while protecting what makes Stittsville a great place to live.

These are the commitments I’ll bring to Council. I’ll report back on what’s been done, what’s underway and what still needs work.

Carp Road Widening

My goal is to get construction underway in spring 2027, while keeping residents informed and reducing impacts on local businesses.

  • Get construction underway in spring 2027. I’ll meet with City staff to identify the remaining work and what needs to happen to move into construction.
  • Work directly with local businesses. I’ll work with business owners before and during construction on access, deliveries, signage and practical ways to reduce disruption.
  • Keep residents and businesses informed. I’ll provide clear updates on construction stages, traffic changes, delays and next steps.
  • Review what caused the delays. I’ll ask the Auditor General to consider a review and push for the lessons learned to be applied to future Stittsville projects.
  • Prepare for cut-through traffic. I’ll work with residents and City staff to address traffic calming needs on Kittiwake and Lloydalex in anticipation of additional traffic during construction.

Roads, Sidewalks & Transportation Connections

Keep major projects moving while looking after the infrastructure we already have.

  • Move key transportation projects forward. I’ll push for progress on the Robert Grant Avenue extension, Stittsville Main Street extension and Fernbank Road improvements, with clear updates on timelines, funding and next steps.
  • Fix the roads and sidewalks we already have. I’ll advocate for resurfacing our most worn roads, including Stittsville Main Street, replacement of broken sidewalk panels, and regular maintenance of pathways, culverts and drainage.
  • Get projects ready sooner. I’ll push for design work, land agreements and utility planning to happen earlier so projects are ready to move when construction funding becomes available.
  • Improve access for the Connections community. I’ll work with residents and City staff to review road access, bus service, and walking and cycling routes, identify missing links and push for the Stittsville Main Street connection.

Public Transit

Make bus service more reliable now while securing funding for LRT to Stittsville.

  • Find the cause of unreliable service and fix it. Use route-by-route data to identify patterns in late and cancelled trips, then push for targeted solutions. If buses are getting stuck in traffic, that could mean short bus-only lanes or transit-priority signals. If schedules are unrealistic, they should be changed. I’ll track whether the fixes are working.
  • Increase bus service. I’ll advocate for 15-minute weekday service on Routes 61 and 62 through Stittsville and additional trips on Route 262.
  • Give riders better real-time information. I’ll push for accurate alerts when buses are delayed or cancelled so riders have time to make another plan.
  • Improve connections and accessibility. I’ll work with riders on connections to jobs, schools, and services, and include Para Transpo users in discussions about reliability and accessibility.
  • Secure funding for Stage 3 LRT. I’ll work with west-end councillors and provincial and federal representatives to secure the funding needed to extend LRT to Stittsville, while continuing to improve the bus service residents rely on today.
  • Apply the lessons learned from Stage 2. I’ll push for realistic budgets and timelines, stronger contractor oversight, thorough testing and clear public communication before the next stage moves into construction.

Development, Growth, and Natural Spaces

Support new housing within our planning rules while pushing for the infrastructure and community benefits growth requires.

    • Get the most community benefit from development. I’ll work with residents, City staff and applicants to push for safer access, walking and cycling connections, trees, green space and the infrastructure and services needed to support growth.
    • Push back when projects exceed approved limits. I’ll challenge requests for additional height or density where they aren’t justified and expect applicants to show how impacts on neighbouring homes, traffic and local services will be addressed.
    • Manage growth along Hazeldean Road. I’ll support housing within the height and density already planned for the corridor while pushing for the roads, transit, parks and services needed to support that growth.
    • Protect the scale of Stittsville Main Street. I’ll push to keep building heights in the core of Main Street low-rise and consistent with the Community Design Plan.
    • Match parking requirements to the transit people actually have. I’ll push for parking requirements that reflect current transit service so new development doesn’t simply push parking onto surrounding neighbourhood streets.
    • Involve residents early. I’ll clearly explain what is already permitted, what changes are being requested and what can realistically be influenced, then report back on the changes I pursued and the outcome.
    • Look at the combined impact of growth. I’ll push the City to consider how multiple developments affect the same roads, intersections, transit, drainage, parks and services instead of looking at each project in isolation.
    • Protect wetlands, trees and natural areas. I’ll oppose development on wetlands, advocate for protection of the Goulbourn Wetland Complex and support local tree planting and conservation efforts.

Road Safety

Put school zones first and focus on practical improvements that make our streets safer.

  • Make school zones the first priority. I’ll prioritize safer crossings and traffic calming improvements around schools.
  • Replace repeat temporary measures with lasting fixes. Where streets receive temporary traffic calming year after year, I’ll push for permanent options such as speed humps or cushions where the evidence and design support them.
  • Review the Cope Drive school corridor as a whole. The school sites and road layout are largely established, so I’ll bring school boards, City staff and residents together to look at how the corridor is functioning and identify practical improvements to crossings, sidewalks, cycling connections, buses, parking, drop-off areas and intersections.
  • Fill missing walking and cycling connections. I’ll advocate for safer links to schools, parks, bus stops and community facilities.
  • Bring more road-safety funding to Stittsville. I’ll pursue our share of provincial funding following the removal of speed cameras and push for better coordination between temporary and permanent traffic-calming programs.
  • Target dangerous driving. I’ll work with Ottawa Police on recurring speeding and dangerous-driving concerns and ask for clear information about enforcement and results.
  • Address problem parking areas. I’ll push for one-sided parking restrictions on sections of road that residents have repeatedly flagged as difficult to navigate safely.

Parks & Recreation

Create more opportunities now while planning for the recreation spaces Stittsville will need next.

  • Make better use of the facilities we already have. I’ll work with recreation staff to review schedules, registration demand and available space at Cardelrec and other local facilities to identify opportunities for more programming.
  • Open more community space. I’ll work with school boards to expand community access to gyms and other school facilities instead of relying only on City buildings.
  • Expand programming for youth and seniors. I’ll work with recreation staff and community organizations to bring more classes, drop-ins and activities closer to home.
  • Offer recreation that reflects our community. I’ll advocate for amenities that serve Stittsville’s growing diversity, including cricket pitches and other activities residents are asking for.
  • Keep lawn bowling close to home. I’ll work alongside the Goulbourn Lawn Bowling Club to advocate for suitable local space that meets the club’s long-term needs.
  • Get neighbourhood parks built sooner. I’ll push for clear park-delivery milestones in subdivision agreements and provide residents with updates when projects are delayed.
  • Make Fernbank District Park a destination for Stittsville. This is a huge opportunity for our community. I’ll work with residents to advocate for a range of sports, recreation, gathering and outdoor amenities that serve different ages, abilities and interests. We should get it right from the start.
  • Plan for the recreation space we’ll need next. I’ll push for longer-term planning for additional pool, program and recreation capacity as Stittsville continues to grow.

Health Care & Social Supports

Bring more health and social services closer to home.

  • Move the west-end health hub forward. I’ll work with health-care providers, City staff and the Province to move forward the City approvals, partnerships and provincial support needed.
  • Plan for the future of 1631 Stittsville Main Street. I’ll bring City staff and community partners together to assess space needs and explore options for a community hub, including renovation, replacement and partnerships.
  • Identify gaps in local social supports. I’ll work collaboratively with WOCRC, residents and other community partners on a local needs assessment, then use the findings to advocate for more programs and services here in Stittsville.
  • Support affordable and supportive housing. I’ll work with non-profit housing providers, advocate for suitable City land and help projects move through City approvals while seeking provincial and federal support.

Local Businesses & Stittsville Main Street

Help local businesses succeed and keep Main Street at the heart of our community.

  • Work regularly with local businesses. I’ll maintain a strong relationship with local business owners and the Stittsville Business Association, follow up on the issues they raise and report back on progress.
  • Support an informed conversation about a BIA. If there’s interest from the business community, I’ll bring in City staff and representatives from existing BIAs to explain the options, costs and benefits so local businesses can decide whether it’s right for Stittsville.
  • Make City Hall easier to navigate. My office will help business owners reach the right City staff, understand requirements and follow up when permits, applications or concerns are stalled.
  • Move the Main Street Public Realm Plan forward. I’ll advocate for funding and a phased plan to improve walking routes, seating, landscaping and public gathering spaces.
  • Keep bringing people together. I’ll continue Councillor-led events including the Stittsville Multicultural Festival, Canada Day celebrations and the Pride flag raising.
  • Support community-led events. I’ll help local organizers navigate City requirements, promote community events and encourage more opportunities for neighbours to gather on Main Street and throughout Stittsville.

Taxes & City Spending

Respect affordability and keep taxes as reasonable and predictable as possible while protecting core services.

  • Keep taxes reasonable and predictable. I’ll consider the pressure on household budgets while making sure roads, infrastructure and essential services aren’t allowed to fall further behind.
  • Put core needs first. I’ll prioritize essential services, maintenance and infrastructure before taking on major new discretionary spending.
  • Say no when the community benefit isn’t there. I won’t support significant capital investments with limited benefit for Stittsville residents, such as Lansdowne 2.0, when major needs in roads, transit, recreation and other core services remain.
  • Look at the full cost of major projects. Before supporting a significant investment, I’ll look at what it will cost to build, operate and maintain, how it will be funded and what alternatives were considered.
  • Get better value from existing resources. I’ll look for opportunities to use facilities more fully, review programs and pilots, and replace recurring temporary fixes with permanent solutions where that offers better value.
  • Bring other levels of government to the table. I’ll work with other councillors to pursue provincial and federal funding and make sure priority projects are ready when funding opportunities become available.

Accessible & Accountable Leadership

Be available, communicate clearly and follow through.

  • Respond within two business days. My office will acknowledge resident inquiries, explain the next step and provide updates when an issue takes longer to resolve.
  • Create regular opportunities to meet. I’ll hold coffee chats throughout the year and an annual town hall where residents can raise concerns, ask questions and hear about local priorities.
  • Share weekly video updates. I’ll continue using short, regular videos to explain City decisions, local projects and issues affecting Stittsville in plain language.
  • Keep residents informed by email. I’ll continue sending regular newsletters with local news, project updates, opportunities for input and upcoming community events.
  • Reach residents beyond social media. I’ll also use local print media to share important updates with residents who may not follow City news online.
  • Share difficult news too. I’ll communicate openly when projects are delayed, plans change or decisions are difficult instead of only sharing announcements and successes.
