Let's Talk About What Matters Most
I am here to answer all your questions
1. Why are you running for City Council?
Stittsville is where I’m raising my family, building community, and investing my time as a long-time volunteer and public servant. I care deeply about protecting what people love most about this community while ensuring we grow responsibly.
As Stittsville continues to grow, we need stronger advocacy for infrastructure, transportation, recreation, healthcare access, and community services so families can continue to thrive here. I’m running because I believe local government should be proactive, practical, and focused on improving quality of life for residents.
2. What makes you qualified for this role?
I’ve worked at City Hall for the past eight years in a variety of roles, including in political offices and Public Works. Most recently, I’ve worked in Traffic Services on transportation and traffic calming initiatives.
Before joining the City, I began my career in social work, providing frontline support to women and children experiencing violence in shelter settings. That work taught me empathy, persistence, and the importance of listening carefully to people during some of the most difficult moments in their lives. It also gave me a deep understanding that public policy decisions have very real human impacts.
Throughout my career, I’ve developed experience in policy development, project management, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach. I’ve also organized many local events and worked directly with residents to help solve problems and navigate City processes.
Beyond my professional experience, I’m a mom, a long-time volunteer, and someone deeply connected to the Stittsville community.
3. What are your top priorities?
My priorities are focused on protecting quality of life as Stittsville grows:
- Safer roads and better traffic management
- Reliable transit and improved connectivity
- Protecting greenspace, parks, and our wetlands
- Responsible growth with infrastructure that keeps pace
- Access to recreation, childcare, healthcare, and everyday services
- Strong communication and responsiveness from City Hall
- Supporting community-building initiatives and local events
4. What does “smart growth” mean to you?
Growth is inevitable, but poor planning isn’t.
Residents are frustrated because they’ve watched development move ahead while infrastructure struggles to keep pace. Roads become congested, transit remains unreliable, recreation spaces become harder to access, and essential services like healthcare, schools, and childcare face increasing pressure.
Stittsville deserves growth that is coordinated, responsible, and realistic about the impacts on daily life.
I support thoughtful development that is aligned with infrastructure, transportation, parks, recreation, and community services. That means advocating for better long-term planning, stronger infrastructure investments, and ensuring existing residents are not left dealing with the consequences of growth without the necessary supports in place.
We need to protect the character and livability of our community while also recognizing that new families deserve complete, connected neighbourhoods where people can safely move around and access the services they need.
Good planning should improve quality of life, not strain it.
5. How will you address traffic and road safety?
Transportation is one of the biggest concerns I hear from residents.
People are frustrated with speeding, congestion, gaps in active transportation infrastructure, and unreliable transit. My professional experience in Traffic Services gives me a strong understanding of both operational realities and policy opportunities.
We need a balanced approach that improves safety for drivers, pedestrians, cyclists, and transit users while planning proactively for future growth.
I will support practical, data-driven solutions like traffic calming measures, safer school zones, and improvements to residential streets. Every neighbourhood has unique needs, and solutions should reflect that.
6. How will you support families in the community?
Strong communities are built around strong families.
As a working mom in a blended family with five girls, I understand firsthand the pressures many families are facing right now - balancing work, childcare, transportation, recreation costs, housing affordability, and the day-to-day challenge of simply finding enough time.
Supporting families means creating communities where daily life is easier, safer, and more connected.
That includes advocating for:
- Safe streets and neighbourhoods where kids can walk, bike, and play safely
- Reliable transit and transportation options that help families get where they need to go
- Recreation spaces, parks, and programs that are accessible and affordable
- Thoughtful growth planning so infrastructure and services keep pace with new development
- Strong community programming and local events that bring people together
- Better access to healthcare, childcare, and essential services close to home
I also believe families benefit when residents feel genuinely connected to their community. One of the things I love most about Stittsville is the willingness of neighbours to support one another, volunteer, and step up for local causes. Protecting and strengthening that sense of community matters.
Local government may not control every issue families face, but it plays a major role in shaping the quality of everyday life.
7. What will you do to support local businesses?
Local businesses are a huge part of what makes Stittsville feel like a community, not just a suburb.
Small business owners sponsor local sports teams, support community events, create local jobs, and help build the character of our main streets and neighbourhoods. They’ve also faced enormous challenges over the past several years, from rising costs to staffing pressures and economic uncertainty.
I believe the City needs to be a better partner to local businesses.
That means:
- Improving communication and responsiveness from City Hall
- Reducing unnecessary administrative barriers where possible
- Supporting vibrant main streets and local commercial areas
- Ensuring transportation and infrastructure planning considers impacts on local businesses
- Encouraging community events and initiatives that drive foot traffic and local spending
- Advocating for practical solutions that help small businesses succeed and grow
Economic development is not just about attracting large investment. It’s also about supporting the local businesses that already contribute so much to our community every day.
I’ll continue making a point of connecting directly with local business owners to better understand their challenges, ideas, and priorities.
8. How will you improve access to healthcare and services?
Access to healthcare and essential services is one of the concerns I hear about often in conversation with residents.
Families are struggling to find family doctors and many people feel like they have to leave the community to access basic services. As Stittsville continues to grow, these pressures will only increase if we don’t plan proactively.
While municipalities do not directly manage the healthcare system, local government still has an important role to play in advocating for residents and helping create the conditions that attract and support healthcare services in growing communities.
That includes:
- Advocating strongly to provincial partners for improved healthcare access and investment
- Supporting community health hubs and opportunities to expand local services, including mental health supports
- Ensuring growth planning considers healthcare, childcare, recreation, and other essential services alongside housing development
- Improving transportation connections so residents can more easily access services across the city
- Supporting complete communities where residents can access more daily needs closer to home
9. How will you stay connected with residents?
Residents deserve a Councillor who is visible, approachable, and responsive.
One of the things I’ve valued most throughout this campaign has been the opportunity to meet residents directly at their doors, hear their experiences, and have honest conversations about what’s working well in the community and where people feel frustrated.
If elected, I’ll continue prioritizing open and accessible communication through:
-
Regular video updates and email newsletters
-
Active engagement on social media
-
In-person events and community meetings
-
Ongoing neighbourhood outreach and door knocking
-
Clear and timely responses to resident concerns
I also believe communication should go beyond simply sharing information. Residents want to feel heard and to understand how decisions are being made and why.
My commitment is to be a Councillor who listens carefully, communicates honestly, and remains connected to the everyday experiences of the people I represent.
10. What sets you apart from other candidates?
I bring a combination of professional municipal experience, community connection, and practical problem-solving that is relatively unique in this race.
I’ve worked at City Hall for eight years in both operational and political environments, which means I understand not only how decisions are made, but also how to navigate complex systems and move projects forward effectively. My experience spans frontline social services, political offices, and Public Works, giving me a broad understanding of the challenges residents face and how municipal decisions impact everyday life.
Before joining the City, I worked directly with women and children experiencing violence in shelter settings. That experience shaped the way I approach leadership. It taught me empathy, persistence, and the importance of listening carefully to people’s lived experiences.
I also bring a strong understanding of transportation, infrastructure, and growth-related issues at a time when Stittsville is facing significant change and pressure on local services.
Beyond professional experience, I’m deeply invested in this community. I’m raising my family here, I’m a long-time volunteer, and I genuinely care about protecting the sense of connection and quality of life that people value in Stittsville.
I believe residents are looking for someone who is approachable, collaborative, knowledgeable, and ready to step into the role prepared to advocate effectively from day one.
11. How have you been involved in the community?
Community involvement has always been important to me and my family.
We strongly believe in giving back and helping build a connected, supportive community. Over the years, we’ve been involved in a wide range of local events, fundraising efforts, and grassroots initiatives throughout Stittsville.
Some of the ways we’ve contributed include:
-
Organizing the Stittsville Community Easter Egg Hunt for the past four years
-
Creating our annual Halloween Skelebration in support of the Snowsuit Fund of Ottawa
-
Organizing fundraisers for the Stittsville Food Bank, Chrysalis House, and Ukraine relief efforts
-
Organizing annual Cleaning the Capital projects
-
Helping coordinate donated meals for Ottawa residents impacted by the derecho
-
Supporting flood relief efforts in Constance Bay
-
Hosting local gatherings and street events that bring neighbours together
Through my previous work supporting local Councillors, I also had the opportunity to help organize community events and outreach initiatives that strengthened local connections and community spirit.
My family has twice been nominated for the Stittsville Volunteer Group of the Year Award — something I’m deeply proud of.
One of the things I love most about Stittsville is the willingness of people to step up, support one another, and build community together. I’m proud to have contributed to that spirit over the years and would be honoured to continue doing so as Councillor.
